Kimon Maré
Candidate Architect [M.Arch]
What:
The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum project revolved around the issue of adding a modern extension to a heritage significant building. The programme entailed an extension to the gallery space as well as the storage, an out door gallery space, an addition of a library, two workshops, computer facilities, and new offices. My approach was to continue its existing features in a modern way, making it seem as if it was not originally, but yet still appears to be apart of. Below you will find the working drawings of my design.

Where:
The existing Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum is situated in Park Drive and forms part of the St. George's Park, home to the St. George's Cricket stadium.
